A Message from SA CITY Director of Club Development- Adriano Allain

Dear SA CITY soccer families,

As many of you already know, we recently announced that Nick Hallam has transitioned to take a position with the Texas Tech Women’s Soccer program. In the interim, I have moved to take on most of his responsibilities, but will heavily rely on the senior directors and staff to continue our daily operations, to give me a “lay of the land” and step up and show leadership in other assigned tasks. We would like to thank Nick for his guidance, integrity and passion these past six years. Nick’s legacy in developing a club wide and dominant style of play will live on and evolve in the years to come.

I share a quote from Charles Darwin (1809), “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Last month, we took the bold step to take extreme ownership of our player pathway and to provide the best learning environment for all our players, all levels.
If you want to grow soccer’s finest fruit – you grow it yourself. Player/Person development is non-linear. We have to know how to conduct this process in it’s entirety. Growing a garden is not simply plugging in a seed in the ground. You have to understand all the mechanisms/dimensions – soil choice, fertilizer, pest control, water, frost, sunlight.
Our mission is to develop expert players and teams while instilling highly desired character traits to the youth of San Antonio and surrounding cities. A particular training environment and coaching methodology is required to develop these creative, intelligent, free thinking and adaptable players and teams. Our team of directors and coaches will continue to expand our style of play and teaching methods over the summer and you will see marked improvement in enjoyment, game understanding, soccer fitness, skill acquisition and performances immediately this Fall 2018.
With regards to club development, we have a golden opportunity in the coming months to rebrand SA City SC in the image of our membership. This will be an inclusive process, as the Board will conduct an anonymous online member survey, shortly. We want to get as much feedback as possible, so we can prepare to raise standards for all programs and install a champion mindset across the entire organization.
During this process to rebrand our values and redefine attitudes, we will be guided by the 3 H’s:

Honesty – Heightened self-awareness, speak the truth, take constructive feedback, and move on fast.

Hard Work – Essential or nothing gets done.

Humility – Essential to avoid complacency and arrogance.
On behalf of the SA CITY senior directors, SA CITY club coaches, SA CITY club administrators and SA CITY Board of Directors we are honored to serve you and welcome this opportunity to lead the club to new heights.
I’ll be out at State Cup games this weekend in Round Rock and at our Player Placement Events next week. Please stop by and say hello. I’m happy to meet you and look forward to an awesome 2018/19 season.

The golden age of San Antonio soccer is right around the corner – exciting times ahead.
